The Magic Attic Club Wiki

Marian (full name Marian, LLC) was the third owner of the Magic Attic Club brand, acquiring the line from Knickerbocker Company in 2001 and later selling it to Charisma Brands in 2004.

Magic Attic Club History[]

Knickerbocker, after multiple financial struggles, had all their assets purchased in 2001 by Brian Blosil, the then-husband of Marie Osmond. The two formed the company Marian, LLC after the combination of their first two names (the word is pronounced mah-rye-an to rhyme with Brian). Osmond had already stepped a foot into doll sales, design, and releases starting in 1990 as the brand Marie Osmond Fine Porcelain Dolls and Marie Osmond Fine Collectibles; she had also sold dolls on QVC and through Walmart, including her Adora Belle series.

No changes were made to the line in 2002 and no new items were released. In 2003 Marian did a full reboot on the line with a full launch by the holiday season. Among the major changes to the brand were the discontinuation of Chloe, changing Rose Hopkins to a Hispanic girl named Rosa Garcia, rebooting the books (and discontinuing the older ones fully), and removing the character of Ellie Goodwin as the owner of the house with the attic (rumors are this was because Marie Osmond and other producers found it disturbing that 10-year-old girls would be invited into a stranger's home so quickly and would visit that person's attic often without family supervision); instead the new book gave Megan a different aunt, Maggie Carmody, who owns the attic space as part of her apartment in a three-apartment building.

Items and outfits released were general outfits with no set items for any specific characters, though some were designed to be similar to adventure sets. The book series was reset with the book The Adventure Begins, which was intended to be the start of a new series (though no further books were released). Items were also no longer sold through catalogs and could only be purchased via selected retailers. Doll costs rose to $74.

Shortly after the reboot's release, Marian sold the line to Charisma Brands in early 2004.

Marian is no longer in operation.
